This site is served by WordPress. Many things about WordPress annoy me but its ease of use and administration, installed base and huge range of themes and plugins make it the default choice for now.
This theme is built on Theme Hybrid. I have used only a small number of plugins: Ozh Admin Drop Down Menu to put the admin menu up top instead of down the side; Akismet to catch spam comments; W3 Total Cache to serve cached, static copies of pages for lower server load; WPtouch to serve a mobile theme to devices like iPhone.
I work on a Mac: a shiny new Macbook Pro; it is my third Mac since I switched in 2003 and the most beautiful, elegant and functional physical object I have owned. I cannot imagine ever returning to that other operating system.
I generally code CSS and HTML by hand, using vi and TextMate. I prefer HTML over XHTML—there’s one of the things that annoys me about WordPress—and I do not like CSS frameworks that use non-semantic class names.
Hosting is a Joyent Accelerator, running OpenSolaris.
